So I debated for a long time about laser hair removal. I read everything I could find about the pros and cons, the different kind of lasers out there, laser vs electrolosysis, every yelp review. I was a lifelong waxer so I was not too afraid of the pain factor. I was more afraid of it not working, of being burned or scarred by an untrained nurse with the laser, and wasting my hard earned $.

I was nervous about finding a reputable place. I was stabbing in the dark here and hopefully coming up with a legit spot. There were all these laser places that offered “buy one leg get the other leg free” deals which kind of creeped me out. I was going in for a medical procedure not looking for a deal on a carton of milk.

A friend of mine had gone to Belle Visage to get her bikini lasered and had great results so I figured that’s gave them some legitimacy. I booked my appointment with Rita and I have to say I’m a believer. So far I’ve had 3 treatments and the results have been great. I’m getting full legs, bikini, and underarm done. It ain’t cheap but it is worth it!! The results have been great so far. I don’t really know how many sessions it will take until everything’s gone, but I don’t really care. Rita is very careful to set the laser to the right setting for each person’s skin/hair color. She’s also great with the small talk, which is much appreciated when on your hands and knees with a laser on your lady bits.

The legs and underarms don’t really hurt that bad. It feels like a little rubber band snapping against your skin in a non-middle school bully sort of way. They offer a numbing cream for $45 a bottle which I bought to use only on my bikini area because that is where is starts to get really painful. I mean I missed a spot with the cream once and it was through the roof painful!! You need to apply the cream 45 minutes before the treatment and then concoct a saran wrap diaper to help the cream absorb. All I have to say about this process is that attempting to saran wrap diaper yourself in the bathroom stall at work and then making swishing noise with your crotch as you walk to the car is equal parts hilarious and awkward.

Since you have to stay out of the sun during the treatments (ideally you want super dark hair and light skin because the laser is attracted to the melanin), I recommend getting the bulk of the sessions done during the winter months since it’s not really beach season.

You have to shave before you go in for treatments. As the hair starts to grow back, about a week later the little F-ers start to just fall out. That is my favorite part. They just fall out never to return again!! Take that mediterranean heritage!!

I’ll check back in to let you know how many treatments it took to finish the deal, but I have to say that it is totally worth it.

This subject is easy to blog about. Why, you may ask?

Let’s just say that if you had 30 min in your day to plump your lips ….wouldn’t you call right away? I would.
Just look at your baby photos. Do you see that sweet full face? Baby fat “they” call it.
It’s actually Hyaralounic acid.

You’re born with it and all of the sudden….Poof! Hollow cheeks, you start looking tired and sick.
“What? Why is this happening to me?”….To you and the rest of the country. I say country because of stress. Lets say that if you and I were living in Interlochen, Switzerland, We might have fuller faces because life is slower.

It doesn’t mean it’s “less” fun. It simply means that we need to chill out a bit.
There’s always a yin to the yang. With a slow paced life comes less motivation. Therefore with less motivation comes less fulfillment for some.

Ever hear, Work hard, Play Hard?

Here’s how “we” Angelinos Play hard. We run the kids to the different activities we’ve signed them up to, And if no children then the dogs must go to Runyon for a long trek! God forbid my Oliver and Lincoln don’t get play time with the rest of Los Angeles. What kind of mother am I:)) ?

Clearly, I’m the kind that does everything and squeezes in the bit of “well deserved” time with Nurse Rita and Nurse Kari!

So… Juvi or Resty? That’s “code” for fillers.
I say try both. I personally think that they’re the exact same product but Allergan says different. That they’re cross linked with something that they can’t really disclose.
Whatever! They both work exactly the same.
Look at it like this, one’s a pink package and one’s blue. No one cares about the color. They don’t even see it until it’s the patient decides.

Brittany Spears or Lindsay Lohan? They both get the job done regardless of what others say. The same goes for Restylane and Juvederm,Same plump.

Stop the procrastination. There’s just no need. The best part is that in 30 min, You will instantly look fuller and younger. CRAZY!!! Right? We’re all trying to lose weight, but not on our face!! Why is everything so unfair? Couldn’t we just be born to perfection? I really don’t get it.
Why the diversity? Whatever.

Thank god I had acne at a younger age. If my skin was clear, I would’ve probably steered away from the beauty business. Now I look at my girlfriends from back in the days and just want to inject them.
Oh, I forgot……. I can’t. I’m not a nurse. I’m a clinical Aesthetician. No Needles for us, thank you :)

Anyhoo, for the first time I feel like Carrie from Sex and the City. How come she gets to write what she believes in and I don’t?

That’s why I decided to share this info. All the blogs are to be super informative to diffuse the confusion.

It’s supposed to minimize the confusion while making beauty decisions.

Do you find yourself frustrated with your five o’clock underarm shadow?

Does it bug you, that your sex life may be revolving around your waxing appointments? I’m not against waxing at all! As a matter of fact, some people that should wax the minimal hair that they have as long as they’re not prone to ingrown hairs.

Do the math. Laser is so competitively priced nowadays that I can’t imagine shaving my bikini ever again!

You may be asking, “What about all the money needed for the series of treatments?

Just remember that the Laser Hair removal package can only be used for the original area it was purchased for and for only the area you originally purchased it for. You won’t be able to use your underarm laser package for a bikini laser treatment. Here is a list of individual prices and you will need to call in for the package prices @ 818 907 0502.

Treatments will always need touch ups therefore package purchases are a great way to save money. Hair will never die forever since it’s hormonal. You will have great results but will also need to know that every person will have different results. Knowledge is power so here it goes.

Laser hair removal at Belle Visage Medical Corp, Los Angeles

1. Do not tan a week before laser ….What we mean by that is don’t go to the tanning salon or book your laser treatment right when you return from Hawaii.

2. Numb or Not?. TK Depends on the type of laser used. Lightsheer Diode XC is the Gold standard for all laser hair removal devices. Why? Large spot size per pulse for faster sessions. Cool tip for less pain and accuracy beyond belief. So, just numb your bikini with the lightsheer and nothing else.

3. How and When do I numb? TK You will need to numb the area 60 min before your appointment. If it’s a Brazilian… I say 90 min because I’m chicken. I don’t numb anything else with the Lumenis Lightsheer Diode.

4. How many treatments do I need? TK Everyone needs at least 6 sessions per area.

5. How many days apart before treatments? TK Wait 6 weeks in between for body laser and 4 weeks in between for facial laser.
