So I debated for a long time about laser hair removal. I read everything I could find about the pros and cons, the different kind of lasers out there, laser vs electrolosysis, every yelp review. I was a lifelong waxer so I was not too afraid of the pain factor. I was more afraid of it not working, of being burned or scarred by an untrained nurse with the laser, and wasting my hard earned $.

I was nervous about finding a reputable place. I was stabbing in the dark here and hopefully coming up with a legit spot. There were all these laser places that offered “buy one leg get the other leg free” deals which kind of creeped me out. I was going in for a medical procedure not looking for a deal on a carton of milk.

A friend of mine had gone to Belle Visage to get her bikini lasered and had great results so I figured that’s gave them some legitimacy. I booked my appointment with Rita and I have to say I’m a believer. So far I’ve had 3 treatments and the results have been great. I’m getting full legs, bikini, and underarm done. It ain’t cheap but it is worth it!! The results have been great so far. I don’t really know how many sessions it will take until everything’s gone, but I don’t really care. Rita is very careful to set the laser to the right setting for each person’s skin/hair color. She’s also great with the small talk, which is much appreciated when on your hands and knees with a laser on your lady bits.

The legs and underarms don’t really hurt that bad. It feels like a little rubber band snapping against your skin in a non-middle school bully sort of way. They offer a numbing cream for $45 a bottle which I bought to use only on my bikini area because that is where is starts to get really painful. I mean I missed a spot with the cream once and it was through the roof painful!! You need to apply the cream 45 minutes before the treatment and then concoct a saran wrap diaper to help the cream absorb. All I have to say about this process is that attempting to saran wrap diaper yourself in the bathroom stall at work and then making swishing noise with your crotch as you walk to the car is equal parts hilarious and awkward.

Since you have to stay out of the sun during the treatments (ideally you want super dark hair and light skin because the laser is attracted to the melanin), I recommend getting the bulk of the sessions done during the winter months since it’s not really beach season.

You have to shave before you go in for treatments. As the hair starts to grow back, about a week later the little F-ers start to just fall out. That is my favorite part. They just fall out never to return again!! Take that mediterranean heritage!!

I’ll check back in to let you know how many treatments it took to finish the deal, but I have to say that it is totally worth it.
