IPL Photo-facial Instructions
Pre-Treatment instructions
All make-up and lotions need to be removed before treatment. We provide cleanser and headbands for this purpose. Make-up can be applied after treatment. To provide you with comfort and safety, please read the following sets of instructions:
- Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment.
- No sun exposure or use of tanning products for 4-6 weeks before and during the full course of therapy. Sun protections with sunscreen (at least SPF 30), protective clothing and sunglasses are essential prior to, in-between, and following our series of treatment. If you are currently tan, you will need to postpone your first treatment.
- Avoid aspirin, Advil or Motrin or any other aspirin containing products for at least one week prior to procedure. This will help minimize possible bruising.
- Discontinue use of Retin-A and Hydroquinone (if treating face), Tetracycline, or Minocin three days prior to all treatments.
- No new medications should be taken for at least two weeks prior to treatment. Please notify Belle Visage if you must take a new medication prior to treatment.
- No exfoliation should be done to the skin for 3 days before and 3 days after treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores (herpes) and are receiving treatment around the mouth, we recommend that you take Valtrex during your therapy. Please notify Belle Visage if you need a prescription for this condition. If you have a current prescription, Valtrex 500mg should be taken by mouth twice daily on the day before, the day of and the day after treatment.
Numbing instructions
This product contains: (BLT) Benzocaine 20%, Lidocaine 6% and Tetracaine 4%.
Contraindications: If you have allergies to any of the above-mentioned drugs, you may NOT use this product.
DO NOT USE:
- In or around eye area.
- On full chest and full back in the same day – if use of cream is required on both areas, the treatments should be scheduled on separate days.
- Prior to vascular laser treatments – as use of BLT cream causes the area to become flushed and is difficult to see where veins originate.
*** Main use of BLT is prior to laser hair and some pigment laser treatments.
Directions for use: It is best to purchase BLT cream prior to day of treatment and apply at home approximately 1 hour prior to treatment. Apply a thin coat of BLT cream evenly to body part being treated. To receive optimal results from BLT, wrap area with a plastic wrap which aids in maximum absorption of the cream (e.g., Saran Wrap or Reynolds Plastic Wrap). Remember to have the body part clean shaven on day of treatment or night before is best. For bikini area – have the area shaved in the “style” that you want and your nurse will be able to trace your shaved hairline. Expect numbness in area and redness. The slight red appearance is normal. Any unusual redness or irritation should be reported to an R.N. at Belle Visage Medical Corp immediately at 818.907.0502. Numbness can last up to 24 hours.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Belle Visage Medical Corp.
